Potrebno mi je, s vremena na vrijeme,
da vjerujem kako nekog volim,
na cesti, neku blagu ženu po hodu prepoznajem,
i trpim, kao, zbog nje.
Pa kada legne noć u moju sobu, na sto i postelju-
zamišljam: ona će ujutru stići,
mehko ključ u tužnoj bravi okrenuti,
nad postelju mi se nadnijeti,
kao majka – čist oprez u brižnom kretu,
čednost u živoj ruci, pod kojom oči otvaram,
i dodirujem je, govoreći:
“Potrebno mi je, dušo, s vremena na vrijeme,
da vjerujem kako nekog volim, i ljubim,
u jutrima ovim, punim strave, a pustim...“

I need , from time to time,
to believe how I love someone,
on the street, some gentle woman by
her walk I recognise,

and suffer, like, because of her.
So when the night lays upon my room, desk and bed
I imagine, she will come in the morning,
softly turn the key in the sad lock,
bend over my bed,
like a mother - pure caution in careful motion
modesty in living hand, under it I open my eyes

and I touch her, saying:
„I need it, darling, from time to time,
to believe how I love someone, and kiss,
in these mornings, full of fear, yet deserted...“
